The Elf is a new hybrid breed in the developmental
stages, the product of American Curl to Sphynx
out-crossings. After a lot of research into the health and
viability of this new breed the Elf Breed was established
and founded in 2005.     We do not include any
Highlander/Highland Lynx bloodlines in the creation of
our cats.  All are TICA registered.  There is an Elf breed
standard that our group of dedicated breeders are
working towards. The first litter of registered Elf kittens
were born and we instantly fell in love with the
personality and appearance. We then continued on the
long journey of developing the Elf cat. Named Elf
because of the elf-like appearance of the slight curl of
the Elf's ears.
An application was sent to The International Cat
Association (TICA) for acceptance as a new breed and
began registering them as such in 2006.
There are many people involved in making the dream of
Elf's  being fully accepted for Championship status with
TICA.    Unfortunately at the spring TICA board meeting
Elf Cats were not advanced to registration only.
We will continue to breed toward  our breed standard
and begin exhibiting the cats that most closely meet the
breed standard under the "New Trait" group and be
named Elf Cats but under the Sphynx breed group
instead of our own breed group.  Nothing about the
breed changes by doing this in any way.  This, in fact,
could be a faster road to championship status

About the Foundation Breeds
American Curl Cats
The American Curl is best known for its unique curled
ears, which are the result of a spontaneous mutation.
The ears are erect and open; curling away from the cat's
face in a graceful arc as opposed to the Scottish Fold's
which fold forward and downward. The ears give the
breed an alert and happy appearance

SPHYNX
The Sphynx appears to be a hairless cat, although it is
not truly hairless. The skin should have the texture of
chamois. It may be covered with very fine down which is
almost imperceptible to both the eye and the touch. On
the ears, muzzle, tail, feet and scrotum, short, soft, fine
hair is allowed. Lack of coat makes the cat quite warm to
the touch. Whiskers and eyebrows may be present,
either whole or broken, or may be totally absent. The cat
should not be small or dainty. The Sphynx is
sweet-tempered, lively, intelligent and above all
amenable to handling. Excerpt from the Sphynx Breed
Standard.
